Jazz music has long surpassed a single genre. Through years of development, it has left a profound influence on a wide range of musical styles - including pop and rock - as well as on artistic creation across different disciplines.
For this "Jazz Appreciation & Sharing Session", the founder of Drip Music, Teriver Cheung, invites singer-songwriter Jan Curious to discuss how jazz music embraces cross-genre collaboration. While Teriver is a contemporary jazz guitarist and composer, Jan is the lead vocalist of a rock band and an illustrator. Why did two artists with such different backgrounds come together to form a cross-genre band? How did their initial collaboration pave the way for even more unique music projects? Through their own experiences, the two will share the limitless possibilities of music creation.
Teriver and Jan will also be joined by local jazz musicians Bowen Li, Nelson Fung, and Dean Li to bring audiences an exciting live performance. The programme will include jazz standards, Cantonese pop songs in jazz arrangements, and their original works. Drip Music cordially invites everyone to join them for this evening full of music and sparks of creativity - come and experience firsthand the charm and free-spirited openness of jazz!
