Born and raised in Changsha, writer-director Zhang Ji captures the sights and sounds of his city with vitality and familiarity that is impossible to fake. Showing the emotional entanglements, family affection, love, and dreams of urbanites intertwined in the night, Zhang takes the local life attitude of “have a bowl of noodles and welcome a new day” to heart to craft this endearing love letter to his hometown.
