Through continuous absorption, blending, and development of various influences, it has evolved into a genre that carries a distinct local flavour. The project "Culture Connect: Where Pop and Diversity Meet Cantonese Opera" carries on this tradition and seeks to reinterpret Cantonese opera through a pop music band, offering audiences a fresh auditory experience. The workshop "Discover Cantonese Opera: A Multicultural Workshop" provides a platform for non-ethnic Chinese audiences in the community, especially those who speak Cantonese, to experience this art form and further integrate Cantonese opera into the community, gently inspiring the interest of general public in Cantonese Opera. The project is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
