Without any technical support, the film took about three years to complete, but the result is incredibly exciting! Although the film is filled with traces of America’s the Fleischer brothers, the Wans successfully explored and demonstrated the possibilities of Chinese animation. At the same time, the film also established <em>Journey of the West</em> as a main inspiration for many Chinese animation.<br /><br /></span><span style="font-size: 14pt;">In the film, Monk Tang and his disciples find the heat of Fire Mountain impossible to fight. The Monkey King wishes to borrow Princess Iron Fan’s titular fan to put out the fire, but he decides to simply steal it when he is rejected. When the Bull Demon discovers the robbery in the process, he becomes furious at the Monkey King. After several fierce fights, the Monkey King finally obtains the iron fan and successfully makes it through Fire Mountain.</span></div>
